Killer Mike is the stage name of American hip hop recording artist and occasional actor Michael Render. He was born on April 20, 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He attended Morehouse College where he met producers The Beat Bullies and Big Boi of Outkast.
Killer Mike made his music debut with a feature appearance on Outkast’s Snappin’ & Trappin’ from the 2000 album Stankonia. It was followed by their 2001 single The Whole World, a Grammy award-winning song from Outkast’s greatest hits album Big Boi and Dre Present… Outkast as well as other features including Poppin’ Tags from Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 2.
In 2011, the series reached another level when the third volume PL3DGE landed on the SMC/Fontana Distribution label which led to Killer Mike’s current signing to Grind Time Official. He released R.A.P. Music in 2012 which was entirely produced by American rapper-producer EI-P. The two formed a duo in 2013 and called themselves Run the Jewels. They signed to Fool’s Gold and released their self-titled debut in June of the same year. He has been featured in the films 20 Funerals, Idlewild and ATL.
